Nail the Beat!
So, you want to play the drums. What are you? some sort of megalomaniac??
It's true, there's nothing more more primal and fun than bashing the hell out of a bunch of logs. But are you doing this for your own amusement, or do you want to play in a band? Both are good reasons to play. However, playing with other musos will increase your enjoyment and kudos enormously. And there's just one thing other musos want you to do, and that is- Nail the Beat!
The good news is, in rock music, this is relatively easy to master, but you have to learn to listen to yourself and the band simultaneously, and not get carried away in your own bubble. As Tommy Lee says, playing drums in a band is a bit like driving a juggernaut- you have to keep everyone with you as you go.
With the DRUMSENSE system books 1 and 2, you will learn about 90% of everything you'll ever need to play in a rock band, if applied correctly, and more. So that leaves 10% for megalomania!... Enjoy!
